About

Dan Burcaw’s career as an entrepreneur began because of an insatiable thirst for knowledge. In the early 1990s, Burcaw taught himself the ins and outs of the early Internet and the emerging technologies of the time including the Linux operating system.  This formed the basis for his first several businesses.

In 1999, Burcaw co-founded Terra Soft Solutions, Inc., a technology consultancy focused on Linux-based integrated technology solutions.  As Chief Technology Officer, Burcaw architected solutions for Fortune 500 companies, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Energy.  Of note, he designed and delivered a multi-million dollar technology solution to Lockheed Martin which was the basis for a high availability sonar image processing platform deployed on board the US Navy submarine fleet.

Following his tenure at Terra Soft, Burcaw spent time in an Entrepreneur-in-Residence capacity at a private venture capital fund where he was assigned to a special project focused on delivering virtualization on commodity hardware to the widely untapped small and medium business market. Recognized for his technical expertise and business prowess, Burcaw evaluated emerging technologies, market trends, and the impact of industry drivers to build a product strategy and technology approach.

Prior to forming Double Encore, Burcaw saw first-hand the power of a strong corporate culture in his time at a well-known Fortune 500 company.  His experience there confirmed his long-standing belief that it is vital to do what you love.  Only then will the mind’s potential be unlocked. This core belief is the backbone for Double Encore a new venture incubator that marries investment, engineering, and mentorship–a kind of Manhattan Project for ideas.

Burcaw earned his B.S. in Business Administration from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He currently resides in Denver where he enjoys activities such as snowboarding, rock climbing, and yoga.

With this blog, he hopes to share his unique experiences in life, business, and technology as well as document his next entrepreneurial journey….
